Look at this guy! Isn’t he so handsome? This is Hiawatha, and he just visited the Evans branch! His “mom,” Karin, told us lots about Hiawatha and other birds like him. She told us lots of stories about Hiawatha, like how she has to hug and kiss him before he’ll go in his cage, or how he said “That’s awful!” when she gave him a kind of food he didn’t like! He can even dance! He’s called an umbrella cockatoo because he has feathers on the top of his head that he can move to look like an umbrella. If you go to our Flickr page, you can see pictures of his “umbrella.” If you want to learn more about Wildlife Educators Coalition (they’re the group that Hiawatha’s “mom” is a part of), you can find their website here, and their Facebook page here.
